Our Imported Chilean Wines
They agreed to produce for The Old Mill several private label wines as follows: Molino Viejo Chardonnay, Locomotora Syrah, Locomotora Cabernet Sauvignon , a lovely blended white wine which Malarkey dubbed Exotic White, and Locomotora .
In 2010, the Molino Viejo Chardonnay received from The Beverage Testing Institute a Gold Medal, 90 points and an award for being "one of the best white wines available in the USA retailing for under $10.00/BTL."
Today, The Old Mill Brand imports only the wines of Malarkey's Chilean friends, the Korta family.. Which (for marketing purposes) calls their vineyard Korta Wine Cellars & Vineyards, Fundo Santa Ana de Petroa, Sagrada Familia..
The Old Mill Brand is now studying the possibility of adding some private label Spanish wines to its portfolio.
The Old Mill Brand has been importing private label, medium-priced Chilean wines for over 15 years.
Originally, these wines were produced by an 80 grower co-op in .
When the co-op went out of business about 2005, our president, H. Malarkey Wall, talked to some Chilean friends of his (named Corta) who had, in about 2000, bought a large farm in the Sagrada Familia area of Curico and had planted on it extensive vineyards and had built there a beautiful new, state-of-the-art winery.
